Academics

Experts who have the knowledge to effectively address the issues and problems presented by biological terrorism are in high demand as the breach between the magnitude of a terrorist threat and the United States ability to adequately respond to it expands.

Offered through the Department of Public and International Affairs, the doctoral and master's degrees in biodefense are an academic response to the challenges to national and international security posed by the threat of biological terrorism. Preparing students for employment in biodefense-related positions in academia, industry, and homeland security is the main objective of these programs.

To meet the unprecedented need for education in the myriad aspects of bioterrorism threats, these programs provide students with a background in the science and technology of biodefense and threat analysis of biological weapons.
